JBL35 Preseason Power Rankings (pre-auction)
An annual tradition continues. These are my rankings. Don’t like them? Ignore them, I’m usually wrong anyway. What am I basing these ranks on? The usual. Quality and value of keepers. Pregnant value. And the team’s ability to contend for titles. I’m doing a top 8 this year as that represents the left side of our daily JBL leaderboard. Here we go:
Golden
5 strong keepers with a lot of pregnant value. No titles since the 17/18 season so maybe this is the year. The pressure is on for the 11-time champion.
Brussels
Another team loaded with great keepers and recent success. A JBL title in 20/21 and coming off a 2nd place finish. And this year he’s not drafting from a hotel room in Seattle. Things are looking very promising for Brussels in 25/26
Bangkok
Our defending champ is back for a title defense. As the Kok will tell you a string of 3rd-3rd-3rd and then a JBL title is noteworthy. Solid core of 5 guys to head into the auction.
Cali
Year 3 of the “Wemby-window”. While this squad hasn’t tasted JBL glory yet, when you have the Alien on your roster, the time to go for the win will always be NOW.
French
After 9 years of 5 titles and 4 second place finishes, French has cratered to mediocrity with a 6th place finish last year and 4th place before that. French has 3 strong keepers (if healthy) and potentially impactful newcomers to help him climb back up the JBL mountain.
Chilliwack
Our big spenders have perhaps the best core of players ever heading into an auction. This squad also has just $38 dollars for 10 guys at auction. But still, what a core to build around. Hard to believe the Wack’s last title was in 2013/14.
Dayton
The youngster has improved each year – 13th to 10th to 8th – and now boasts a strong offseason roster to bring into auction.
Idaho
3 core guys ready to rock and roll for Idaho. While they are closer to market value, could the addition of Flagg give the boost to this team to contend? Idaho’s last 5 season have been underwhelming but at some point, maybe the proclamations will come true.
