Idaho is the new Golden??

The kid is young and brash. His team is surging at the end of the season - putting on a late season like none other - well, maybe like the championship teams of Golden. He's cocky, he can't spell, and he's widely considered a poor judge of Fantasy talent. Yup. He's the complete opposite of me. However, for whatever reason, players in Idaho this season are loving it and they clearly play better for the youngest JBL owner.

Take for example Baron Davis. Baron de Beouf is often linked to Juan de Fuca for good performances, however, this season, since joining the Idaho squad, Baron has been re-born.
Baron, on the season, is shooting 37% from FG and just 30% from downtown. Those are very typical Baron numbers. However, when Baron joined the Udapimps 12 games ago his %'s in Idaho are 43% and 41%. Plus he's adding the usually 17ppg, 5+ rebounds, and 8+ assists with a bunch of steals. Could Baron finally be happy??? What's going on?

And what about Jason Kidd? He's been traded 6 times this JBL season and spent a lot of that time in Idaho. Kidd's season %'s from the field and downtown are 42 and 40. In Idaho, those numbers are 46 and 45.

Then there is Rashard Lewis. He was only in Idaho for 13 games but his %'s while there were 46 and 42 (pretty close to his season numbers - albeit slightly higher)...then Lewis is traded to Golden and his %'s in 17 games for the Showers are 40 and 32 (yes, I know, well below season averages).

So what's up? Do players relish the chance to play for a younger, more immature owner?? Do the players feel empowered because they know they are smarter than their owner?? Do they feel more threatened because they know they could be traded at the drop of a hat?

I can't figure it out. But I do know that this Idaho team has exceeded all of my expectations. The Udapimps have a legitimate shot at 2nd place. I believe Idaho's previous best finish in the JBL was 6th place and this year he will surely eclipse that. Wherever they finish, Tuna will be cashing in - not only JBL cheques - but all those sidebets he has out there. Unreal.

I know that other JBL are pissed right off that they are trailing Idaho and that they are going to have to deal with the bragging and probably a poorly spelled "I told you so" JBL article. The bad news is that if Tuna does his homework and protects the right 4 players - he could be a favorite for next season's JBL title. Wait a second, did I just write that?? Let me check....yes, I said it. Idaho could be a pre-season favorite for the 09/10 JBL title. And if the NBA players hear that - they are going to be begging to be drafted by the Kid on JBL Draft Night. Maybe Idaho is the new Golden afterall.
