I saw the highlites from today's opening NBA Playoff game between the Bulls and Celtics. No KG for the Celtics - so the Bulls might have a shot in this series. What I noticed though was the battle between Rajon Rondo and Derrick Rose. Rondo might be one of the quickest PG's in the league and his defense is amazing. So, how did the rookie fare against Rondo? How about 36pts, 11assists, 5 To's on 12/19 shooting. So, Rose is playing in his 1st ever playoff game against maybe the best defensive PG in the NBA and he goes for 36 and 11. Read that again, just so it can sink in. Now, if you're the Brussels Musles and could protect Rose for $24 dollars - do you do it? The answer? Yes.
Rose averaged 17 and 6 in his rookie season while shooting 47.5% from the floor. Sure, he was only 16/72 from downtown...but there are other outstanding PG's who don't shoot the 3 well (Parker, Rondo, Deron Williams, etc). I think if you looked at the Fantasy PG's for next season...Rose would be in the top 10 already. Wouldn't $24 dollars for a top 10 PG be a good deal? It will be interesting to see if Timbo keeps him. At this point, I know I would.
The other 2 Bulls that really interest me are Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas. I had Noah for half the season and he really stepped up his game in the 2nd half of the year. He was 9ppg and 9reb with 62 blocks and a Tendex of 16.7. Very solid.
Thomas is another potential keeper for Brussels. In the 2nd half of the season, Thomas averaged 13 and 8 with 52 steals and 87 blocks in 41 games. Are you kidding me?? What a great 4/5 guy on your roster for a measley $10 bucks. Tyrus's Tendex of 16.0 was very solid and I betcha that Timbo keeps him.
