Don't You Love It?

Well, it's Saturday evening and I just finished watching the All-Star weekend festivities. I have to admit, the dunk contest was quite entertaining. I was quite impressed with Serge's Free Throw line dunk. Has anyone taken off from that far away? They showed Dr. J's and Serge was definitely outside him? Where did MJ take off from? Barry? I think Serge may have broken those distances!!

Blake Griffin was outstanding. Man that kid can jump. I do have one complaint though. When the hell did Kenny Smith become the NBA's mouthpiece? Really? We're in Hollywood. We're in front of Griffin's home crowd and all I keep hearing is the annoying voice of Kenny Smith. Sure, I get that Kenny is pretty well know for his broadcasting process. But come on, do we need him hyping up the crowd and chirping with Barkley?? Geez, Kenny you were a "good" player back in the day - but I think you think you were much better than you really were. Anyways...moving on.

I know there are many (OK, a couple) JBL Chronicles readers that aren't that happy with me right now since my recent trade with Belgrade. You remember the deal - I traded Carlos Boozer, Greg Monroe and Reggie Williams for Kevin Love. All I am going to say is that I am very excited to have Dr. Love on the squad for next season. Will the trio I sent over to Belgrade help him get out of the basement?? I'm not sure. Maui is shooting the 3 well, blocking, and rebounding right now and he could be tough to catch. So, we'll see if Boozer or Monroe are able to be protected....

And what will Bangkok do with Rudy Gay? Rudy could be out for at least 4 weeks which means he could return to play around 12 games. Now, there are rumors that Gay could be out for the season. If that's the case - it could be difficult for Bangkok to get good value for him. Does Bangkok need to trade him? My belief is yes. Seoul is, how shall I say it, right on his ass. Rudy Gay is a 6 category player and a 20 PPG scorer and I don't think replacing him with either Marvin Williams or Richard Jefferson is enough. Now, there must be a JBL team out there who sees Gay's value for next season as a keeper and would be willing to part with someone? Yuma? Manhattan? Maui? Juan de Fuca? What about Golden or Chilliwack?? Well, I am considering making an offer - but I think Bangkok still wants quite the price.

What will a team like Arctic do? He has a number of good potential keepers and has slipped in the standings a bit. Is he going to use those keepers to get some more talent and make a run for the money? Or will he fold the tent and try to grab some more talented keepers?

And what will Brussels do? The Muscles squad is a team filled with players who need NBA help to be fantasy relevant. Troy Murphy - will he be traded out of NJ? OJ Mayo - can he get off the bench? Anthony Randolph - the most over-hyped big of all time?? Austin Daye - waiting for the Pistons to move Prince. Ekpe Udoh - will GS find him time? Rip Hamilton - will he be traded to a contender and will it matter? Ty Lawson - will Billups be moved with Carmelo?? Half of Tim's team is based on potential - but I think it's going to be too little too late for the Brussels squad this season. I was chatting (texting) with Timbo tonight and he's started preparing for the upcoming baseball draft already. It appears his JBL mojo is gone. This has to be a difficult season for the Muscles after coming into the year with a #2 ranking and having Tyreke and Durant as keepers. And now, 17 weeks in he's driving a 9th place squad just 14 points out of 11th. Major disappointment I think. Now, that being said, it sounds like Brussels plans to make some alterations between now and Sunday night. We'll see what he does...but I'm guessing we'll see deals with Idaho and/or French Lick. I wonder if we'll see Brussels make a run at Stephen Curry or Wilson Chandler?

And what will Yuma do? Chubby has been very quiet this season and doesn't appear to have too much attractive talents for next season. Yuma, like last season, is sitting in 8th and doesn't seem to be headed in either direction. So, will Yuma use guys like Kobe, Nash or Odom to grab some cheap talent for next season?? We'll see. I can say that I made an offer to Yuma this morning involving Eric Gordon - but no response as of yet.

I hope that as Sunday rolls along that there is plenty of text, talk and action as I think it could make for an exciting day. Last year, I was in Orlando and wasn't able to make any last day trades. This year, I hope to be active and have a few things in mind I'd like to accomplish. Now, that being said, I don't think that Kevin Love or Dorell Wright are going anywhere. My other 3 potential keepers are Scola, Aldridge and Gordon. I can't say that they are untouchable and I may leverage one of them if I can improve my team (I can't keep them all anyways). And, to go really deep, guys like Roddy Beaubois and Kendrick Perkins could be considered keepers under the right circumstances. Beaubois, after missing 50+ games, has already gained the starting SG spot in Dallas and looks to be a favorite amongst Dirk, Kidd, and coach Carlisle. He could be worth a look at $6 bucks for next season.

Anyways, that's all for now....I'll try to update the Chronicles tomorrow during the day with any rumors or possible deals that are going on. I know some guys doesn't like me airing their dirty laundry - but come on, it makes everything more fun doesn't it??
