All year the Canucks were the best team. From week to week they were always perched atop the power rankings. All year they were the envy of the league. Everything Mike Gillis touched was turning to gold as he pushed all the right buttons with the squad. He made some crafty moves during the year picking up some players to add depth. And despite some injuries the Canucks always had someone to plug into their lineup and they just chugged along remaining on the top of the standings. From day one they appeared to be a far superior team than the Blackhawks.
Even for the first 3 games of this series, the Canucks looked like the better team, although they had some lucky breaks along the way to help them to a 3-0 lead. Now, in games 4 and 5 the Blackhawks look like they have the Canucks number and there is nothing Vancouver can do about it.
So - are the Canucks choking?? Or are the Blackhawks simply a better team that are peaking at the right time? Or is the Canucks team really not that good after all??
This scenario looks strangely familiar to me...
Go back to that first paragraph above and replace the word "Canucks" with "Bangkok Fighters" and replace 'Mike Gillis' with "Rick" and replace 'Blackhawks' with 'Seoul Brothers'.
So - did the Bangkok team choke? Or was Seoul simply a better team that peaked at the right time? It's an interesting debate for sure....But I can guarantee you this - if the Canucks pull off the ultimate choke - they will get more press about it than Bangkok did...the Chronicles simply doesn't have the readership of TSN or ESPN.
