The Wonders of Norfolk

How's he doing it Johnny?
He's been missing key guys and he's still right there?
Come on, how's he doing it?

All fair questions my friends.

What am I talking about? The wonders of Norfolk.

In Week 1, Jimmy Butler didn't play. In week 2, Trae Young sprained his ankle. So Norfolk has essentially been running at least one man short each week so far.

As we enter Week 3 can Norfolk keep up this magical start to the season? And how is he doing it?

This Norfolk team arguably doesn't have the 'star' power of many other JBL teams. But what they do have is a lot of really good players.

Domantas Sabonis is off to a roaring start. 22 and 11 and shooting 57%.
Trae Young, before his injury, was averaging 25ppg and shooting 50% and 50%.
OG Anunoby was a jack of all trades. Good FG%, steals, and blocks.

But Norfolk's big contributors consists of 3 players from the Phoenix Suns. And I'm not even talking about Devon Booker or DeAndre Ayton. I'm talking about Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre and Aron Baynes.

What a start these 3 Suns are off to. Baynes was plucked off the waiver wire and is putting up 15/6 while shooting 57/46.  Rubio is getting 2 steals a game and his ATO is almost 3.00. And Oubre is averaging 18 and 6 and shooting 48%. The Suns are off to a great start and Norfolk is benefitting big time.

Of course I haven't even touched on Jimmy Butler and Bradley Beal, Norfolk's dynamic duo. Jimmy Buckets is just getting going and we know Beal is going to score 25+.

So far, Norfolk is doing well in all categories and hasn't missed a beat despite a few injuries to some key guys.

We'll have to see if Norfolk can stand the test of time. We're only in week 3. Trae Young isn't going to shoot 50% from downtown so there will be some regression. Can his Suns keep it up? Can his boys get and stay healthy. This is the excitement of the JBL.

It's nice to see some new blood setting the pace early in the JBL's 29th season. Well done Norfolk. Well done.
