BIG NIGHT!

Well, Friday night was a big one for the Showers. You never know when you're gonna get them. It's certainly exciting when you do. So, going into the night's games...it was Golden 863, Wack 862, and Idaho 849. After Friday night it was Golden 883, Wack 849, Idaho 829.

What happened??

Golden's 10 players went off! No Eric Gordon or Chris Kaman - but everyone else combined for 211 points, 64 rebounds, 13 steals, 50.3FG%, and 55.9 3PT%!
Golden went up in 3PT%, down in ATO - cancelling those two out. And Golden also passed Idaho in scoring - a big +20 for Golden and -20 for Idaho.

6 of 10 guys went for 20+ points.
Aldridge 35 and 18
Wade 27pts 10asts
Lewis 22pts (5/7 downtown)
Morrow 24pts (5/9 downtown)
Garcia 29 pts (4/7 downtown)
Gasol 23 and 10

It was a big night and much needed. It doesn't secure anything, but you always want to have those nights because you know there's gonna be some stinkers coming.

I do want to say that Francisco Garcia has entered the possible keeper realm in Golden. The guy has been sensational. Whether he starts or comes off the bench - the guy can do it all. Last night's game was a prime example. Sure, Kevin Martin was hurt so the scoring was higher than usual, but the guy is a stat-stuffer and would be $10 bucks. I think it will come down to Garcia and Brand. I know what I'm getting for 10 bucks with Garcia. Brand for $28 is a little more sketchy. He's missed most of the last 2 seasons. He's playing for a Philly team that loves to run - and we all know that isn't EB's forte. So, I'll have to see how the offseason shakes down in Philly before I decide on Brand's future.

Speaking of offseason...by 2 divisions for the JBL idea was shot down. The JBL ownership group voted 7-2 to keep the one league. After further thinking on it...I couldn't agree more.

I threw out the option of adding a stat category....also shot down. The JBL is fine just the way it is they said! Glad to hear it.

This morning, I threw out offseason trading...I wonder how this one will be viewed. How do I view it? Well, once the NBA season ends I will release all players from JBL teams that cannot be protected. Then, we'll have to pick a date, I would suggest July 1st - the day that NBA teams can sign free agents - that the JBL owners could then make trades. Your position in the 08/09 standings would still determine how many guys you could keep (top 6 keep 4, bottom 6 only 2).

What could this offseason JBL trading look like? Well, let's say Philly decides to move Elton Brand cause he doesn't fit their style. They trade him to Detroit. Now, Brand's value is suddenly different...so why couldn't the JBL team also trade him?? Every JBL team would only have protectable players left so the playing field is level. Maybe one JBL team has 5 or 6 keepers but none of them are awesome deals (he can't keep them all) - so he moves 2 of them to a JBL with just one solid keeper. It may work. Guys might be into it. Guys might also want to focus on their baseball pools....we shall see.

Finally, is April or October the best month of the year for sports????

April --- NHL playoffs, NBA playoffs, March Madness, Masters, MLB opening day

October --- NBA starts, NFL season, MLB playoffs, CFL games, JBL draft

I think I'll make that my next poll question on the JBL site.
