The Role Players

Every great NBA team has those great role players. Houston has Shane Battier. He's the glue guy. He's the guy who can 40 minutes, guard the other team's best player, take 4 shots (and never complain), and make sure his team wins the game. Every NBA squad needs a Shane Battier.

But what about your JBL Fantasy team? Damn right they need those glue guys. Those late draft night sleepers or those waiver wire gems who you just seem to play in your lineup every week.

Even Seoul, who is setting all kinds of JBL records, has that 'role player'. And for this player, he is being named the JBL Role Player of the Year. Who is he? Kelenna Azuibuike. 15ppg. 5rpg. 47 FG%, 45% 3PT, 56 steals, 46 blocks. All for $1 dollar. Thank you very much. So, who are each team's Role Players of the 08/09 Season?

Chilliwack - Joel Przybilla. 50+ games for the Wack. 6ppg, 9rpg, and 1.4 blocks. He was awesome filling in for Biedrins and Big Al.

Golden - Francisco Garcia. 50+ games. 13ppg. 45% FG, 43% 3PT, 1.3 steals per game, and 0.96 blocks per game. Golden may even offer him a contract extension.

Idaho - Ronnie Brewer. 15ppg. 54% FG, 1.67 steals per game. A great guy for any team.

Arctic - Marc Gasol. A fantastic #2 center. 12 and 7 and 1.0 block per game. Nice.

Brussels - Antonio McDyess. Averaged over 11ppg and 11rpg in Brussels. The old man still has game.

Bangkok - Luis Scola. 13 and 9 while shooting 53% FG. He can play for my team anyday.

French Lick - Spencer Hawes. 12 and 7 and a block and a big part of the Sacramento Kings future.

Juan de Fuca - Wilson Chandler. This FA pickup averaged around 15 and 5 with almost a steal and block per game. Nice waiver wire production!

Dildo - Ryan Gomes. Another FA gem who averaged 15 and 5 and could get regular minutes in Minny next season.

Pearl - Trevor Ariza. Over 100 steals in Pearl. His 8 and 4 averages leave a little to be desired though

Boston - Delonte West. Having a starter on the best team in the NBA usually works out. D-West provided great ATO and steals to a Boston team ravaged by injuries all year.
