Chilliwack gets Lebron, Tyson Chandler, Mario Chalmers and Wesley Johnson.
Seoul gets Andre Drummond, John Wall, Jose Calderon, OJ Mayo, Steve Nash, Randy Foye and Javale McGee.
Bangkok gets Michael Carter-Williams and Kyle Korver.
To me, this is a classic JBL trade. It makes sense for all teams involved. If I was anyone of these teams owners - I'd make the same deal!!
I don't think the other JBL owners should be upset by this type of trade. It makes sense for all parties. If you're Chilliwack - it's time to put all out chips in the middle of the table and go for the win. Drummond is going to be an amazing talent and is probably worth $40-$50 bucks. But, we all play to win. It was time for Ben to cash in his big chip and go for the win. Not only did he acquire the best Fantasy player in Lebron, he also acquired a very good center in Chandler and a PG in Chalmers that would start on most JBL teams. The Wack is the favorite to win it all and he did exactly what I expected him to do. Could another JBL team still win the title? Sure. Absolutely. But Benny should be the favorite.
Seoul cashed in the Lebron chip and landed the #2 keeper in my books. Drummond is a monster and is only going to get better. Seoul is currently in 9th/10th every night and that equates to just 2 keepers. Acquiring Drummond gave him 3 potential keepers (DeRozan and MCW). Seoul would need to get to 8th or better to have 3 keepers. So, in order to try and ensure he got at least 2 keepers - he leveraged MCW to get John Wall. At the minimum, Seoul gets Drummond nad DeRozan for next season. If he somehow gets into the top 8 he would get another guy (maybe Amir Johnson or Luol Deng). So, in my books, a great trade for Seoul.
And there is the mighty Kok. A team languishing in 11th/12th with a roster that really didn't have anything for next season. I've always preached that if you can't win right now that you better be building for next season. The Kok needed a stud keeper and he landed one in MCW. I don't see much threat of the Kok dropping below 12th so he's looking at 1 keeper. And why not get a $15 dollar PG that averages 17-6-5 in his rookie season with 87 steals and 27 blocks in 41 games?? MCW can't shoot but he's worth way more than his $15 keeper salary. This is the Kok's best move of the season. I completely agree with the move.
I really have nothing negative to say about this deal. I love it from all 3 teams' perspectives.
So, now it's time for Juan, Golden, Maui and Brussels to try and keep pace.
Will Juan de Fuca look to trade Afflalo, Kemba or Trey Burke?
Will Golden move Lowry?? Does Nerlens Noel's potential intrigue anyone?
Will Maui look to leverage the #1 keeper Anthony Davis?? Is there a player he can trade him for that makes his team better? What about Chandler Parsons, Oladipo or Hawes?
Will Brussels cash in Lillard, Vucevic, or Stephenson?
Sunday is the keeper trade deadline and I expect some more moves. Nothing will match the 11 player monster trade we just saw today. Anytime the #1 fantasy player and the #2 keeper are involved in a deal - it's going to be tough to beat.
Today's big trade rekindled my faith in the JBL owners and the dynasty feel of the this fantasy pool. Ben wants to win his 4th JBL title (first since 04/05) and he's built an awesome team to win right now. Don't worry about keepers or who you'll build around next season. Win now. Worry about 14/15 later.
Phil's had a down year and went out and obtained a top keeper for next season and has already thrown down the gauntlet warning JBL owners about his deadly double D duo that he's bringing back next season. And Tricky Rick will need to forget about the 13/14 season and try to build around MCW next season.
The JBL allows teams to compete for the coveted and elusive JBL crown while also trying to build a dynasty from season to season. Today was an exciting day in the JBL because trades like this happen. Well done gents. Well done.
